Today is Pepero Day! Pepero Day in Korea is like Valentine’s Day, when couples exchange Pepero, candies and other gifts. Pepero is a cookie stick that’s dipped in chocolate or strawberry-flavored icing. Some even bake their own to give away, decorating them with cute & colorful sprinkles!
Happy Pepero Day from oki tokki! 빼빼로 데이 축하합니다!
This first printed Korean type (Hangul) can be seen in the printing museum in South Korea. (via welovetypography)
This is from 1447! Looks like it held up well through the years.
I wanted to kill some time yesterday and wandered into a thrift store. I decided to check out the books and to my surprise I found some goodies!
Clockwise from the top left: Bird Red Lie, an untranslated Korean manhwa containing three stories set in alternative realities $1; John’s Spiritual Journey, bilingual Japanese/English children’s story about a dog named John $1; くもん読書コース４Ａ, kanji-less stories for children $.50; and Korean for the Business Traveler $1!!
I couldn’t resist getting them all for only $3.50. They all look relatively new, too. I guess I’ll have to check out the book sections more often!
